What You’ll Need for This Orange Creamsicle Popsicle Recipe

Useful Equipment

Blender (or a whisk). To make the best popsicles use a blender to mix your ingredients to create a smooth consistency.  Alternately you could mix your ingredients with a whisk, it will just take a little more time and elbow grease.

Popsicle molds. We use a double ice pop set (on indefinite loan from Nana) which makes 4 double popsicles resulting in 8 individual creamsicles.

Funnel, optional.  A funnel will minimize the chance of spillage when you pour the orange creamsicle mixture from your blender to the popsicle molds, especially if you have young helpers.

On the Ingredients

Coconut milk. Use full-fat canned coconut milk. If the cream has separated to the top, stir it back into the coconut milk before measuring into the orange creamsicle mixture.

Orange juice.  You can use freshly squeezed or store-bought OJ. If you decide to go the store-bought route, look for no pulp and avoid sweetened juice.

Amber agave syrup. With a flavor less distinctive than maple syrup, this natural sweetener balances out the tartness of the OJ.

Pure vanilla extract. Add a splash of vanilla to create that classic orange creamsicle flavor you may remember from childhood.

Arrowroot powder. This is our secret ingredient for making the best creamsicle recipe you’ll find. Made from the root of a tropical plant, arrowroot powder is a common ingredient in gluten-free cooking. In this recipe it keeps ice crystals from forming, creating creamy frozen goodness without industrial stabilizers.
